Installing a Gravel Strip Around House

If you have a rat problem, you should consider installing a gravel strip around your house. This type of landscaping is a great way to prevent rodents and other pests from entering your home. Since rats can easily make holes in landscaping, leaving these spaces uncovered gives them a slack and will likely make your pest control efforts useless. It is important to focus your efforts on the areas of your yard that rats commonly use as entrances. If you want to get rid of the problem, look for areas that are covered with vegetation.

Dig out the gravel channel at least 300mm below the DPC. Install construction grade permeable geotextile in the channel to keep the gravel free of clay particles and silt.
