The evaporator in an HVAC system is what keeps the warm air close to the inside of the house and the cool air close to the outside. The evaporator draws water from the air and heats it up. The water then enters the condenser where it condenses before going back into the original atmosphere. This process goes on constantly and it is only when the need to use more cooling is felt that the system slows down. This is when you feel that the system is having problems.

When the HVAC system starts having problems, one of the first things that you need to check is the blower. If the blower is still working properly, then the refrigerant is flowing properly to the coils and the refrigerant is not leaking out into the air. However, if the blower is broken then you need to check the refrigerant lines and the evaporator coil separately.

If the blower is faulty, then the first thing that you should check is the terminals. There are two types of terminals – the cold and hot. The hot terminal units are placed right next to the blower and they receive their heat directly from the blower. These units are prone to damage and they can be damaged even before other components of the HVAC are damaged. To ensure that the terminals are not damaged, you should place a heat-resistant material between the heat source and the terminal units. The heat resistant material will also help protect the terminals from damage.

Once you have tested the blowers and terminals, you need to check the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is used to keep the air conditioner cool. Since the blower motor is causing the system to heat up, the exchange needs to be replaced. While testing the blower motor, look to see if there are any cracks in the metal. If you see cracks, then the metal may have been stressed due to too much heat or too much pressure.

When you replace the blower motor, look for the condenser. This component is also called the evaporator coil and is located near the back of the air conditioner. The condenser requires a filter to be placed on the outside of it. This will help prevent dust particles from entering into the evaporator coil. However, this might result in a loss of cooling affect. To save energy with your hvac system, replace the condenser as soon as possible.
