What is a Smoker?

“smoked food” is the first description that comes to mind about Smoker Grills in general and not specifically referring to BBQ Smoker Grill. We believe this misconception stems from the fact that the term BBQ is merely an association that has been formed with cooking over a fire and not a specific type of grill or smoker. In short, BBQ means any type of smoked food that is prepared with a wood or charcoal grill. Some of the more popular brands are Old Country Store, Big Green Egg, Lang, Char-Grill, and Smitty’s BBQ.

The term Smoker is also often used incorrectly as in “smoke machine” or “smoke box.” A real smoker is a device that creates smoke using wood, coal or gas. There are different types of smokers available, including electrical, gas, hot air and water smokers. Smokers can be used to quickly create a smoke-infused atmosphere similar to that created by grilling indoors without the mess and fuss. The smokers themselves can be portable or permanent in nature.

It is common for most manufacturers to label their smokers as Commercial, Indoor/Outdoor, or Indoor/Outdoor Smoker. If you are looking for the perfect indoor smoker, we recommend you consider a Smoker Grill that has a water holding capacity of eight cups. This will allow you to conveniently use your smoker indoors when there is no need to outdoor. Additionally, the accessories and extras provided should reflect this.
